Hand & Algorithm is an online project presented alongside a window exhibition by Melbourne contemporary jeweller Jin Ah Jo at Small Space Jewellery, as part of Radiant Pavilion 2026.
The project explores how AI can become part of an established handmade jewellery practice — not as a replacement for the maker’s hand, but as a tool for reflection, experimentation, storytelling and new ways of seeing.
Drawing on Jin Ah’s 17-year archive of jewellery, alongside recent ring experiments and her developing brooch series The City and Its Uncertain Walls — Brooches, inspired by Haruki Murakami’s novel of the same name, the exhibition brings together physical works, images and stories that trace the relationship between hand-making, memory, material knowledge and emerging technology.
